Sanbower, Lowry compete at PIAA golf tournament

Heather Sanbower

YORK — A pair of area golfers played in the PIAA Class 3A girls golf championships on Tuesday at Heritage Hills in York.

Chambersburg's Heather Sanbower carded a 12-over par round of 84 to tie for 24th, while Ella Lowry of Waynesboro scored an 89, 17-over, and tied for 31st place in the 36-player field.

Sanbower started her round on No. 10 and had a rough start, going 8-over par on her first seven holes. But she caught fire and was only 2-over on her next 10 holes, including eight pars. Unfortunately, on her final hole, No. 9, she had to settle for a double bogey. So she scored a 44 on her first 9 holes and 40 on the second nine.

For the Maidens' Lowry, who started on No. 1, it was a frustrating day. She could manage only six pars and posted three double bogeys and one triple bogey.
