Chambersburg 1, Washington (W.Va.) 0: The Trojans opened their season at Trojan Stadium on Monday evening and picked up a non-league victory over the Patriots, who had come into the game with a 5-0 record.

Chambersburg coach Ed Franchi said, "They had been blowing everybody out, so we knew it'd be a good, hard match to start the season. I was very pleased with the way we played. We distributed the ball well, got numbers on the attack and created many chances."

The only goal came in the first half when Carly Cook crossed the ball and Malia Cramer was in perfect position to head the ball into the net.

Late in the second half, Washington was awarded a penalty kick, but goalkeeper Sam Paetow was able to turn the ball away.

Franchi said, "Our defense played well and limited their scoring opportunities and we out-shot them, 12-5."

Paetow had two saves in the second half and Clara Myers had a pair in the first half.
