Trojans look to rebound against Northern York on Friday night

Trojans look to rebound against Northern York on Friday night

Northern York at Chambersburg
Data: Friday, 7 p.m. at Trojan Stadium … Non-league game … Last year, the Trojans won 23-16.
Last week: Chambersburg was blanked by Pope John Paul II, 22-0 … The Polar Bears took a 13-7 win over Red Land.

Jermere Jones

The opponent: Northern made it to the District 3 5A semifinals last year, but lost a lot to graduation … They do return a hardened veteran at running back and linebacker, however, in Cole Bartram (5-10, 195) … Last year Bartram ran for 1,638 yards and scored 17 touchdowns, and he collected 148 tackles on defense … Last week against Red Land, Bartram ran for 164 yards and a TD, while new QB Grady Bonin accounted for 91 yards and a score through the air.
Coach's view: Trojan coach Mark Luther said, "They took a big hit with graduation, so they'll be leaning on No. 7 (Bartram) — he's their main guy and he pretty much was their offense last week. If they can pound it, that's what they'll do. As last week's game went on, they just handed it to No. 7. We have to force them to throw the ball and put pressure on the points of attack where he'll be. Northern likes to crowd the line with seven or eight guys, so we have to get the ball outside to our athletes in space."
Unsung: Although Chambersburg's offense was stymied last week, Trever Luther (2-57) and Jermere Jones (2-44) both had several big catches … Coach Luther said, "Jermere had a tremendous game for his first one at wide receiver and on defense (linebacker). He played hard and physical."
