Trojans look to build off of last week's win

WAYNESBORO AT CHAMBERSBURG
Data: Friday, 7 p.m. at Trojan Stadium … Non-league game … Last year, the Trojans defeated the Indians, 17-0.

Pierce Schoenhofen

Last week: Chambersburg (1-1) punished Northern, 51-7 … Waynesboro (1-1) took a 35-14 loss to Hershey.
The opponent: The Indians are coached by former Chambersburg coach Mark Saunders, who was an assistant at 'Boro after leaving Chambersburg … Waynesboro opened its season with a 21-3 win over Spring Grove … The Indians' top playmakers on offense are QB Rashawn Hewitt and RB's Bryan "Tank" Benedict and Hayden Nolan.
Coach's view: Trojan coach Mark Luther said, "The challenge for us is they run the wing-T, so there is a lot of misdirection. It presents eye candy to the defense and you can't get caught looking in the backfield. They have a young quarterback without much game experience, but if they can run the ball, they can do some things off play-action. So it'll be the same game plan as last week — put them behind the sticks and make them have to pass. On defense, they play a 4-4 with eight guys up on the line. I know passing is a little risky in high school, but it's our strength, so if they play that defense, we'll throw the ball."
Indian coach Mark Saunders: "Chambersburg's speed combined with our lack of speed offers a few problems for us. Plus they have an advantage in experience. We can't let them get big chunk plays — we need to make them have eight or nine play drives. We will try to control the game and clock by running the ball and we've been able to move the ball so far. My hope is they come in overconfident and don't play their best."
Unsung: The Trojan offensive line took a big step forward last week from a rough first game. Luther said, "Up front, all across the board, was 100% improvement. We need to continue to take that step forward." … The line includes Pierce Schoenhofen (LT), Chase Stenger (C), Eli Vosburg (LG), Cole Edwards (RG) and Dominick Curtis (RT).
