Girls X-C finish third

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Trojans place third: In the PennTrackXC Invitational at Kutztown University on Saturday, Chambersburg produced two of the top six runners and placed third in the team standings.

Madelyn Koons ran a 5.000-meter time of 20:13.9 to take fifth and teammate Lexi Boyd was sixth in 20:19.0 to pace Chambersburg.

Trojan coach Chris Monheim said, "I was very pleased with the girls' efforts. The meet wasn't as large as usual, but there were some good teams there and we challenged them all."

Severna Park, Md. took first and Pennridge also scored 66 points, but lost a tiebreaker. Chambersburg scored 90 points.

Other high finishers for the Trojans were Samantha Faust (24th, 20:15.8), Brook Boone (27th, 22:22.1), Dana Rosenberry (28th, 22:26.9) and Natalie Quinn (29th, 22:32.9).

"Koons and Boyd gave us a great 1-2 up front," Monheim said. "We are really going to have to work on keeping the time gaps small, but I know this team can do that, and we should be very strong by the end of the season."
