Trojan boys & girls clinch X-C titles

Aiden Alleman

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Chambersburg 15, Central Dauphin 48: The Trojans, despite having two runners out of the lineup, still crushed the Rams on Tuesday afternoon in a Mid Penn Commonwealth race at home to wrap up the division title.

"Our performance was really good," Chambersburg coach John Ambrosio said. "There was tough footing on a wet and sloppy course, but a lot of our kids had lifetime bests on our home course. We didn't have two of our top five runners today, but that didn't bother us."

Ari Snyder won the race in 16:03, which was the fourth-fastest time on the Cook course since 1991.

For the Trojans (6-0, 6-0 MPC), who are ranked No. 10 in the state, Aiden Alleman (17:06), Owen Shrader (17:17), Julian Clark (17:22) and Sam Kinton (18:09) placed second through fifth, and Kogan Keffer (18:22) and Boston Vincenti (18:47) were seventh and eighth.

Ambrosio said, "I am really pleased with the regular season; our young guys are coming along. Now it's time for the big postseason meets."

Samantha Faust

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Chambersburg 15, Central Dauphin 47: The Trojans put the first six runners across the finish line to take care of the Rams to wrap up a Mid Penn Commonwealth championship at the Tim Cook course on Tuesday afternoon.

Chambersburg (6-0, 6-0 MPC), ranked 12th in the state, has now won or shared four consecutive Commonwealth titles.

"This was the third Tuesday in a row in which we were able to basically have a workout for the varsity girls," Trojan coach Chris Monheim said. "Lexi (Boyd) and Sam (Faust) and Maddie (Koons) are running a lot of races together, and that should get them closer in invitationals as well."

Those three girls finished 1-2-3 in 21:44, 21:45.0 and 21:45.6, respectively, followed by Brooke Boone (22:40.3), Raegan Hepner (22:40.8) and Dana Rosenberry (21:41)

Monheim said, "We're excited for Saturday at the Carlisle Invitational, getting to run on a fast course."
