Wiesman’s 2 goals lift boys soccer to win

Chambersburg 2, Red Land 1: The Trojans took to the road on Thursday afternoon and came away with a tight Mid Penn Commonwealth victory over the Patriots.

"It was not a great performance from our team this afternoon, but I'm glad we got away with the win," Chambersburg coach Corey Grove said. "It's always difficult playing at Red Land with how slow the (grass) surface is.

Mario Wiesman was the offensive leader for the Trojans (9-3, 6-2 MPC), scoring both of his team's goals.  Jean Izhais had one assist. Goalkeeper Drew Cover made 3 saves.

Grove said, "We lost (leading scorer) Michael Cespedes to an injury in our last game, so we needed someone to step up. Marion was that man with two goals."

Chambersburg led in shots (13-6) and corners (5-3).
