Chambersburg 4, Central Dauphin 3, OT: Colton Hunsecker scored a goal with less than a minute remaining in the second overtime period to lift the Trojans over the Rams in a Mid Penn Commonwealth game at Linglestown on Monday afternoon.
Chambersburg (10-3, 7-2 MPC), winners of six in a row, were already without its leading scorer (Michael Cespedes) and second leading scorer Mario Wiesman went out at halftime with a 1-0 deficit.
"We moved Izhais Jean up top at halftime and he did a great job creating and scoring himself," Trojan coach Corey Grove said. "We were down 1-0, but his goal and two beautiful goals by Cristian Lopez put us ahead 3-1."
Jean had two assists and Lopez and Luca Gaisbauer each had one. Drew Cover made 8 saves in goal. Chambersburg, now ranked No. 3 in Class 6A in District 3, was out-shot 13-9, but had more corners, 4-3.
Grove said, "For us to go up to CD and still get a result (with the injuries) was a testament to the belief of our guys as well as players stepping up. I thought Till Dickman, Elvis Lopez and Drew Cover were the unsung heroes today."
