Trojans are runners-up: Chambersburg finished with an impressive 98 points, which was good enough to place second in the team standings at the Mid Penn Conference championships on Saturday morning at Big Spring H.S. in Newville.

State College finished with 85 points to win the team title.

"We had had our strongest day of the season and that's the kind of results we need at districts in two weeks," Trojan coach Chris Monheim said.

Lexi Boyd and Madelyn Koons had the best times for Chambersburg, with Boyd sixth in 19:29.3 and Koons right behind in seventh in 19:46.8.

The next three scoring runners were Samantha Faust in 20th (20:16.8), Brook Boone in 29th (20:40.1) and Dana Rosenberry in 36th (21:01.5). Also, Natalie Quinn was 42nd in 21:11.8 and Raegan Hepner was 70th in 22:07.9.

Monheim said, "Boyd and Koons set the tone up front and Faust, Boone, Rosenberry, Quinn and Hepner all gave us great depth. Boyd, Koons, Faust and Boone were all Mid Penn medalists (top-35 finish)."

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Chambersburg misses 2nd by 1 point: The Trojan boys finished one point behind Hershey and in third place Satuday at the Mid Penn Conference championships at Big Spring H.S., with both teams trailing State College.

The Little Lions won with 32 points, putting five runners in the top 10, while Hershey had 70 and Chambersburg 70.

"Hershey beat us by one point at the Bulldog race earlier," Trojan coach John Ambrosio said, "so we have two weeks before districts (run on the same course as both of those races) to find another one or two points."

Chambersburg had six runners finish in the p 35 and win Mid Penn medals — Ari Snyder was second in 15:58.5, Owen Shrader took 14th in 16:39.4, Liam Kirkpatrick was 16th in 16:49.8, Aiden Alleman was 20th in 16:54.1, Julian Clark finished 21st in 16:56.4 and Kaden Rife crossed in 29th in 17:13.1.

Samuel Kinton finished in 17:42.9 for 48th place.

Ambrosio said, "Ari lost to the kid from Hershey (Vinay Raman) again, but he had a good race and passed (Greencastle's Hayden) Parks in the last 100 meters or so. Julian Clark did really well, too. Our fifth and sixth guys both finished ahead of Hershey's fifth, and that might be important at districts."
