Chambersburg 104, State College 66: The Trojans earned wins in 8 of the events Tuesday afternoon to collect a Mid Penn Commonwealth victory over the Little Lions at Chambersburg YMCA.

"The boys swam lights out in their first big test of the season," Chambersburg coach Chad White said. "They came out firing on all cylinders and showed incredible mental toughness."

The Trojans (2-0, 2-0 MPC) won five individual events, including two by reigning state champion Derek Estep, wo picked up wins in the 200 IM (2:13.41) and 100 freestyle (55.30). Amir Tasker won the 50 free in 24.41, Alex Kaczmark finished first in the 100 fly in 59.01 and Cullen McGraw took the 100 backstroke in 1:03.0.

White said, "It was great to see all three relays win and the underclassmen make their mark in a big way."

The team of McGraw, Ethan White, Kaczmark and Tasker raced to a 1:52.38 to take the 200 medley relay; Estep, Tasker, Jed Ritchie and White won the 200 free relay in 1:39.48 and Estep, Kaczmark, Ritchie and McGraw hit the wall first in the 400 free relay, in 3:40.33.

State College 121, Chambersburg 48: The Trojans ran into a tough customer in the Little Lions and suffered a Mid Penn Commonwealth defeat on Tuesday afternoon at the Chambersburg YMCA.

"It was a tough meet for us, but the girls swam hard and fought for higher spots," Chambersburg coach Hali Cormany said. "State College has a phenomenal group of athletes so I was really proud of our team for pushing through each event."

Margot Ritchie captured the only victory for the Trojans (1-1, 1-1 MPC). She swam a time of 1:09.46 to take first in the 100 backstroke.

The Little Lions took first and second in all the other events except the 100 breaststroke, in which Hailey Fegan was second in 1:24.91 for Chambersburg.

The Trojan 200 medley relay team of Ritchie, Fegan, Abby Caltrider and Madelyn Shifler took second, as did the 400 free relay team of Shifler, Lilly Evans, Caltrider and Ritchie.

Cormany said, "Ritchie had a very strong swim in the 100 backstroke and 100 fly. Lilly Evans and McKenzie Wicks made the 50 free really close."
