BOYS SWIMMING
Chambersburg 101, Cumberland Valley 84: The Trojans took on powerful Cumberland Valley at Mercersburg Academy on Wednesday and came away with a huge Mid Penn Commonwealth victory, setting them up for a chance to win the division crown.

Derek Estep

Chambersburg (5-0, 5-0 MPC) won 9 of the 12 events.

"The boys swam lights out against a very talented CV team," Trojan coach Chad White said, "and our divers did well. We raced well and won most of the close races."

Derek Estep won the 200 IM in a team record time of 1:55.29, and also took first in the 100 butterfly in 50.50. Amir Tasker came through big with a pair of wins (50 free in 21.83, and 100 free in 46.84), and other individual wins came from Jed Ritchie (500 free, 4:54.08), Alex Kaczmark (200 free, 1:47.19) and Keagan Myers (diving, 218.70 points).

Chambersburg also won a pair of relays with the team of Estep, Tasker, Ritchie and Kaczmark — the 200 free in 1:27.51 and the 400 free in 3:17.48.

White said, "Amir and Alex going 1-2 in the 100 free and then Jed and Ethan (White) going 1-2 in the 500 free was the turning point in the meet that really put the outcome in our favor.

"Cullen (McGraw) and Colby (Evans) had a tough triple at the end of the meet and stayed tough and swam through it. Christian Pong sawm well in his butterfly races."

The Trojans swim at Hershey on Monday and a win would pretty much wrap up the team's first-ever Commonwealth division title.
