Trojan swimmers handle Patriots

Chambersburg 132, Red Land 46: The Trojans cruised to first place in every event except diving and swamped the Patriots in a non-league meet Thursday on the road.

"The girls had some great opportunities to swim events they don't normally swim and score some points," Chambersburg coach Hali Cormany said. "They have been working hard this week as we prepare for the championship season.

"Addie Zimmerman (who placed third) had a great night, but she was diving against some good competition."

Lilly Evans earned victories in the 200 freestyle (2:11.30) and 100 backstroke (1:09.35) for the Trojans (4-3), and was on two winning relays. Margot Ritchie did likewise, taking first in the 200 IM (2:17.82) and 100 freestyle (56.27) and was on two winning relays.

Ava Grove captured the 100 butterfly in 1:10.39, Abby Caltrider won the 500 free in 6:02.29, Madelyn Shifler took the 50 free in 27.18 and Hailey Fegan won the 100 breaststroke in 1:16.12.

Kayla Wolfe, Grove and Lauren Markle joined Evans on the 400 free relay (4:20.10), Fegan, Caltrider and McKenzie Wicks teamed up with Ritchie on the 200 medley relay (1:59.84) and Caltrider and Fegan joined Ritchie and Evans on the 200 free relay (1:48.79).

Chambersburg 114, Red Land 63: The Trojans kept their unbeaten record intact y outdistancing the Patriots in a non-league meet on the road Thursday afternoon.

Xavier Covington was the only two-time winner for Chambersburg (7-0), hitting the wall first in the 100 butterfly (57.68) and 100 breaststroke (1:11.46).

Other individual winners for the Trojans included Amir Tasker (100 backstroke, 58.27); Jed Ritchie (50 free, 23.15), Cullen McGraw (500 freestyle, 5:01.87) and Keagan Myers in the diving (222.25 points).

The Trojans also won all three relays. Tasker, McGraw, Griffin Adamek and Eugene Covington won the 200 medley (1:48.48), Tasker, Alex Kaczmark, Ritchie and McGraw won the 200 free (1:29.34) and Ritchie, Kaczmark, Tasker and McGraw won the 400 free.

Chambersburg coach Chad White said, "Keagan Myers did very well in diving today and will now be able to qualify for districts with an at-large bid at least. The 200 free relay broke the pool record."
