JJ Kelly leads Trojans over State College

BOYS BASKETBALL
Chambersburg 59, State College 49: The Trojans put together a quality defensive effort in the fourth quarter, turning a 2-point lead into a 10-point Mid Penn Commonwealth win on the road Tuesday night over the Little Lions.

"We were able to play a little bit better defensively, especially in the fourth quarter (SC scored 7 points), to create enough separation to close out the game," Chambersburg coach Shawn Shreffler said. "The score doesn't indicate how close the game was — it was back-and-forth throughout — but it does show the urgency we mustered to finish the game comfortably."

J.J. Kelly had a monster game for the Trojans (12-4, 8-3 MPC), scoring 27 points, which is his second-highest point total of the season. He put up 8 points in the second period and 10 in the third.

Jermere Jones added 8 points, Colton Cornwell scored 7 and Landon Buhrman and Grayson Kegerreis each had 6.

Shreffler said, "We got contributions up and down the lineup and it was definitely needed, because we battled some foul trouble, sloppiness and a very game State College team."
