Huge third quarter made the difference for Chambersburg in Dunks for Drew

J.J. Kelly

The Chambersburg Trojans used a big third quarter, outscoring Greencastle 24-8 to defeat the Blue Devils  62-46 in the 16th annual Dunks for Drew Showcase at Chambersburg Saturday night.

Chambersburg had a 29-27 lead at the half before exploding in the decisive third quarter. J.J. Kelly had 14 of his game-high 27 points in the third quarter.

"We won, 62-46. It was a closely contested game, especially in the first half. However, our third quarter allowed us to gain separation as we outscored them 24-8. It started on the defensive end. We were more locked in on our assignments (better ball pressure, post denial, & rebounding)." Trojans coach Shawn Shreffler said "that limiting #14 to zero points in the quarter was key after he had a very strong first half. J.J. had a really solid game tonight, but his third quarter was huge, and Ari orchestrated a lot of it as he was all over the floor. It was a great atmosphere tonight (the Crazies were amazing) as a lot of people showed up for a tremendous cause and to watch two really good basketball teams compete against each other."

Colton Cornwell also reached double figures for Chambersburg with 10 points.

Chambersburg had six 3-pointers on the night, four from J.J. Kelly and one from Grayson Kegerreis and Colton Cornwell.

The Trojans were 8 out of 10 from the foul line.

Connor Wright had 14 points for Greencastle, including 10 in the first half.
