Trojans’ Hight falls 9-1 to unbeaten foe in PIAA semifinals

HERSHEY — It will have to be a different color medal than Aiden Hight wanted. The Chambersburg senior will have to settle for a PIAA Wrestling Championships medal for anywhere from third to sixth place after suffering a 9-1 defeat to Dillon Bechtold of Owen J. Roberts in the semifinals Friday night at Giant Center.

Bechtold (41-0) beat Hight for the third time this season. Hight (34-4) will wrestle a consolation bout Saturday morning to determine if he wrestles for third place or fifth place later Saturday morning. Three times Bechtold hit a sweep for a single-leg takedown and did everything he could to avoid Hight's upper body tie-ups. His other takedown came after Hight nearly spun behind for a takedown. Instead, Bechtold reacted so quickly, that he ended up spinning behind Hight for two points. Hight's only point came on a first-period escape.
