Chambersburg 137, Mifflin County 13: The Trojans won every event and brushed past the Huskies in a Mid Penn Commonwealth meet Thursday afternoon at Trojan Stadium to end a long first week (invitational and 2 dual meets).

Four Trojans (2-1, 2-1 MPC) picked up a pair of individual wins — Jahnaya Trotter-Wimberley in the long jump (16-6.75) and triple jump (34-11.75); Marlee Jackson in the 100 (17.2) and 300 hurdles (51.5); Natalie Holmes in the 100 (12.1) and 200 (25.5) and Ashley Gunkelman in the javelin (96-2) and shot put (30-7.75).
"Jackson is coming along nicely in the hurdles," Chambersburg coach Chris Monheim said, "and Trotter-Wimberley had a really nice day in the jumping events after being a little off recently. We had three freshmen win events, too."
The freshmen included Serafina Richards in the discus (96-0), Mikaela Sistrunk in the high jump (4-8) and Natalie Quinn in the 3200 (12:44.8).
Also picking up wins were Madelyn Koons (1600, 5:36.6), Katy Weller (400, 1:04.1), Raegan Hepner (800, 2:44.5) and Alaina Morris (pole vault, 8-6).
The 4 x 100 team of Jaxin Frazer, Trotter-Wimberley, Leshae Hang and Holmes won in 50.9 (the third time this week under 51); the 4 x 800 team of Ellianna Rife, Zoe Ward, Lydia Willson and Brook Boone won in 11:19.5, and the 4 x 400 team of Koons, Rife, Samantha Faust and Lexi Boyd won in 4:33.8.

Chambersburg 113, Mifflin County 37: A busy first week ended with a comfortable Mid Penn Commonwealth meet victory for the Trojans over the Huskies at Trojan Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

"Three meets in six days is a tough schedule to start our season, and we had a few guys out injured today," Chambersburg coach Jim Boyer said. "We're ready for a long weekend of rest and recovery, and we get back in action next Wednesday with another home meet vs. Central Dauphin."
The Trojans (3-0, 3-0 MPC) spread the wealth, with only three double winners. They included Peter Mertz in the discus (157-5) and shot put (48-1), Blake Mallast in the 100 (11.02) and 200 (21.7) and J.J. Kelly in the triple jump (48-1.25) and high jump (6-10). His high jump equaled his career best.
Also picking up wins were Jude Grillo (javelin, 141-6), Rhaigeon Parker (long jump, 19-11.5), Ben McQuade (pole vault, 9-0), Jermere Jones (110 hurdles, 14.8), Ari Snyder (1600, 4:54.2), Daniel Casagrandi (400, 52.8), Noah Valentine (300 H, 41.3) and Julian Clark (3200, 10:15.1).
The 4 x 100 relay team of Kason Besecker, Kelly, Mallast and Jones clocked a win in 43.1.
Boyer said, "Jermere had his best time of the year in the 110 hurdles and hit 6-0 in the high jump, and we had two others jump over 41 in the triple jump — Rhaigeon Parker (42-8) and Tamoroin Daniels (41-3)."
