Troajns split with Carlisle

BOYS TRACK & FIELD
Carlisle 76, Chambersburg 74: The Thundering Herd picked up victories in all three relays and that 15-0 advantage was a huge factor in an upset Mid Penn Commonwealth victory over the Trojans on Tuesday afternoon in Carlisle.

Ari Snyder

"Carlisle winning all three relays really hurt," Chambersburg coach Jim Boyer said. "We have guys ineligible and a few injured and it showed. I told our athletes when disappointment occurs, you need to have a short memory or use it as fuel, and hopefully we can do both."

J.J. Kelly piled up three wins for the Trojans (4-1, 4-1 MPC), taking the triple jump (47-7.5), the long jump (21-11) and the high jump (6-8).

Also in the field, Peter Mertz captured the shot put (137-5.5) and Luke Mertz took the pole vault (9-3).

On the track, Antonio Harrison II collected wins in the 100 in 11.0 and the 200 in 22.4. Jermere Jones won the 110 hurdles in 14.8 and Noah Valentine ran 42.1 to finish first in the 300 hurdles. Ari Snyder placed first in the 3200.

Boyer said, "Ari ran an incredible final lap of the 3200 to make up a 50-meter gap and win the race by a lean," Boyer said.
