Altoona downs Trojans 1-0

BASEBALL
Altoona 1, Chambersburg 0: Each team managed just 3 hits in a classic pitchers' duel, but the Mountain Lions tallied a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to edge the Trojans in a Mid Penn Commonwealth game Wednesday in Altoona.

Joey Diaz

Joey Diaz pitched the first five innings for Chambersburg (2-3, 0-2 MPC), giving up only two hits, walking three and striking out five.

Tyler Brechbiel gave up a hit and a walk in the sixth and was charged with the loss. The run scored on a hit, a walk and a two-out error, the first of the game for the Trojans.

Chambersburg coach Scott Folmar said, "Joey was lights out on the mound. He did a great job working ahead in the count and kept their hitters off balance. Their guy did the same thing with us and we weren't able to put much pressure on their defense."

Altoona's Tanner Stroup was 2-for-2, scored the winning run and pitched the first five shutout innings. Eric McAllister picked up the win with two hitless innings. The two combined to strike out 9 Trojan batters.

Evan Brown, Aaron Vasquez and Wyatt Martin had singles for the Trojans. Chambersburg got two runners to second base and only one to third.
