SOFTBALL
Chambersburg 5, Red Land 3: The Trojans used a 4-run top of the fifth inning to take the lead over the Patriots and held on for a Mid Penn Commonwealth victory Tuesday afternoon in Lewisberry, and Samantha Paetow reached another personal milestone.

"I thought we became a better team today, because the bottom of the order came through and everybody contributed," Chambersburg coach Chris Skultety said. "I'm hoping we can get in a groove and play some games because it's been tough to find consistency with all the long layoffs (with rainouts)."

Morgan Lehman led off the big fifth with a walk and Malia Cramer bunted her to second. The first run scored when Marley Onomastico belted a double to right and Brooke Leedy's double brought in Onomastico to lift the Trojans ahead, 3-2.

After an intentional walk to Bree Paetow, Karley Skultety singled to load the bases. A walk to Samantha Paetow scored the third run and a grounder by Addison Gsell plated the final run.

The RBI by Paetow was the 100th of her career, and she is believed to be only the second Trojan to get 100 runs batted in and 100 hits (which she reached last week), Tara Harmon achieved that feat in 2016.

In the top of the first, Bree Paetow bunted for a base hit and went to second on a throwing error. She scored on a single by Samantha Paetow.

Skultety said, "I'm proud of the girls and how they stayed calm and battled. I attribute that to all the big games this team has been involved in over the years."

Kori Leedy pitched the first 5 innings and allowed 2 runs on a walk and 4 hits. Saleen Null hurled the final 2 and gave up a home run in the seventh. Bree Paetow went 3-for-3 and Onomastico was 2-for-3.
