SOFTBALL
Chambersburg 11, Cedar Cliff 1: The unbeaten Trojans piled up 16 hits and allowed only 2 to cruise past the Colts in a Mid Penn Commonwealth game Wednesday afternoon at Norlo Park.

Brooke Leedy

Brooke Leedy went 3-for-3 with a pair of runs batted in for Chambersburg (5-0, 3-0 MPC) and four players produced two hits each — Bree Paetow, Addison Gsell, Sanay Jones and Lauren Allison. Leedy and the top four players in the lineup (Bree Paetow, Karley Skultety, Samantha Paetow and Gsell) each had 2 RBIs.

"The girls came out swinging the bats from the first inning on," Trojan coach Chris Skultety said. "The girls are getting chances and stepping up when they have those opportunities. The bottom of the order looked really good again today, making good contact. The team hit some real rockets today."

Kori Leedy pitched the first 3 innings and did not allow a hit, striking out 4 and walking one. Saleen Null pitched the last 2 innings, allowing 2 hits and a run.

The Trojans scored a run in the first inning on Skultety's double and an RBI single by Gsell. In a 4-run second inning, Chambersburg's runs came in via a single by Bree Paetow, a sacrifice fly by Skultety on which 2 runs scored, and a single by Sam Paetow.

In the third, the Trojans made it 11-0 by scoring 6 times. Jones hit an RBI double, Brooke Leedy's double scored a pair, a single by Bree Paetow chased in a run, Sam Paetow's sac fly brought in run No. 5 and a base hit by Gsell finished it off.

The Trojans take on undefeated Cumberland Valley on Thursday at Norlo Park.

Skultety said, "Now it's time to see where we stand with a big game tomorrow against a team that mirrors us. The only difference is their pitcher (Sydney May) throws a little harder."
