Boys lax plays well in loss to CD

BOYS LACROSSE
Central Dauphin 10, Chambersburg 8: The Trojans played their best game of the year, according to coach Joey Wilmot, but came up a little short of the Rams in a Mid Penn Commonwealth contest at Trojan Stadium on Thursday night.

Tavian Ferguson

"It was by far the hardest and best we've played all season," Wilmot said. "Disappointed we couldn't pull it out over a very good CD team, but I was proud of the effort."

Goalie Kristian Freeman posted a career-high 21 saves, giving him 413 career saves, second-most in program history.

Wilmot said, "After their first two goals, Kristian played the best I've ever seen him play. He was the biggest reason we stayed in the game.

"I think there were five or six guys who had their best game of the season. Dayre Senft gave us a boost on faceoffs and had his first career assist. Tavian Ferguson got his first career goal. Matt Tucker distributed well and Sam Kunkleman found his shooting touch. Garrett Iser was all over the field and Jackson Beardsley played the best off-the-ball defense I've seen from him. Also, Dom Barbagallo played his best game ever."

Kunkleman had 3 goals, Logan Mulkey 2 goals and an assist, Tucker contributed 3 assists, Riley Harmon had a goal and an assist and  Ryan Cosey had a goal. The team had a season-high 13 caused turnovers, 4 by Ferguson.

"We had some penalties in the second half and gave up some goals when we were a man down," Wilmot said. "But the offense responded. CD then slowed our momentum and we came up a little short."
