Chambersburg ended up with 74 points to outdistance the host Thundering Herd (65), while Waynesboro placed third with 53.

"It was really nice to get a team victory in absolutely miserable conditions," Trojan coach Chris Monheim said. "I'm hoping it propels us into a big postseason."

Natalia Holmes accounted for three seconds for the Trojans, running a time of 12.59 to take second in the 100 dash. She also anchored the 4 x 100 team to second place in 50.44 and led off the 4 x 400 relay, which finished second in 4:17.29.

Also in the 4 x 100 were Jaxin Frazer, Niamah Collins and Lashae Hang, while Hang, Katy Weller and Olivia Coy were in the 4 x 400. Other runners-up in individual events were Lexi Boyd in the 1600 (5:20.82) and Jahnaya Trotter-Wimberley in the long jump (15-9.25).

Madelyn Koons was third in the 3200 in 11:29.33, Hang placed third in the 200 in 27.42, and Sienna Scott tied for third in the high jump at 4-7. BOYS TRACK & FIELD
Chambersburg takes 2nd place: Three Trojans earned first-place medals and that helped them finish in second place in the team standings at the Stan Morgan Invitational in Carlisle on Saturday evening.

Emilio Frye-Reyes

Carlisle racked up 161.5 points to win the team crown, while Chambersburg had 71.

Trojan coach Jim Boyer said, "After fielding lots of inquiries this week about the guys who aren't finishing the postseason with this team, it was extremely gratifying to see some of our most committed and hardest-working team members compete well today and finish as the team runner-up."

J.J. Kelly, who has four PIAA track & field gold medals already, announced this week he will be playing in AAU basketball tournaments and will miss the track & field postseason — the Mid Penn championships at Chambersburg next Saturday, the District 3 meet and the PIAA State meet.

The Trojans picked up four individual wins, including Antonio Harrison II in the 100 (11.18), Jermere Jones in the 110 hurdles (15.28), Owen Shrader in the 1600 (4:21.21) and Peter Mertz in the shot put (50-10.75).

Boyer said, "Owen had a fantastic response after two Carlisle runners passed him on the bell lap, and he blew by them in the final 150 meters to win."

Three other Trojans placed in that same event — Liam Kirkpatrick (4th), Kaden Rife (7th) and Aiden Alleman (8th).

Micah Gunkleman placed second  in the high jump at 5-9, the 4 x 100 relay team of Imari Watson, Jones, Emilio Frye-Reyes and Harrison placed third in 44.78, Mertz was third in the discus (142-0) and Frye-Reyes was fourth in the 200 (23.48).

Boyer said that Ari Snyder competed in a high-level 3200 race at West Chester Henderson on Friday and missed the school record by just a second.

Also in the Stan Morgan, Shippensburg's Derek Lynch placed first in the discus with a toss of 157-1.
