Chambersburg 3, Spring Grove 0: The Trojans opened their season with a splash, rolling over non-league opponent Spring Grove, 25-18, 25-21 and 26-24 in a wild game on Monday evening at the CASHS Field House.
"The first two sets we played really well, especially for it being our first match of the season," Chambersburg coach Ty Frelin said.
"In the third, we made some uncharacteristic errors and ended up being down 20-8. But then we made a run, played some defense, scrambled and fought our way back to take that set. It showed the heart of our team. These kids just don't give up."
Marah Lehman contributed 9 kills, 2 blocks and 13 digs for Chambersburg, while Alayna Jones had 9 kills and 11 digs. Cami Bender served for 9 points and had 11 digs, while Riley Evans connected on 9 serves and had 7 kills.
Also on the stat sheets, Ava Zeigler had 8 service points and 3, Nizaya Hawkins made 3 blocks and Karley Skultety had 16 digs.
