VARSITY GIRLS TENNIS:
Chambersburg 5, Central Dauphin East 0: The Trojans got a marathon, comeback win at No. 2 singles from Avery Wissinger and won the other four matches in straight sets to blank CD East in their season-opening Mid Penn Commonwealth Division match on Monday afternoon.

Chambersburg coach Josh Barwin said, "Couldn't ask for a better start to the season. A few of our ladies were playing in their first varsity match today, so it was good to get the first-match jitters out of the way."

Wissinger, a junior, dropped the first set 6-7 (7-5), but battled back to win the last two sets, 6-3 and 12-9.

"Avery played her heart out today," Barwin said.

At. No. 1 singles, freshman Sarah Vessah captured a 6-4, 6-0 victory, while at No. 3, senior Stormy Jackson won 6-1, 6-4.

Barwin said, "Vessah played tough and her serve was very powerful. She had a rough start, but quickly calmed down and finished strong. Stormy took care of business and had a stellar service game."

At No. 1 doubles, sophomores Biya Khan and Ridglee Flohr combined to dominate their match, 6-1, 6-0, and at No. 2, junior Aspen Kimberly and senior Sydni Byers earned a 6-2, 6-1 win.

"Khan and Flohr played their first match as a duo and played smooth all match," Barwin said. "They showed how solid they can be together. Aspen anticipated the ball well today and was a beast at the net. Sydni set her up from the baseline all match."\

VARSITY BOYS GOLF:
Trojans finish 4th: The Mid Penn Commonwealth switched its match from State College to Carlisle Country Club on Monday and Chambersburg finished fourth in the five-team event with 348 strokes. Central Dauphin won with a score of 320.

"It was great to get the match in; we're very appreciative of the pro at Carlisle, Chip Richter," Trojan coach Mark Yost said. "Our kids did OK. None of them had ever played there before, so they made some mistakes that cost them."

Jacob Carlin led Chambersburg with a tie for ninth place, shooting an 11-over 82. Also for the Trojans, Owen Reichelderfer was 14th (85), Cooper Miller and Josh Bump tied for 16th (88) and Teegan Humelsine and Jeremy Otto tied for 22nd (93).
