Chambersburg 3, Red Land 2:

Avery Wissinger won a come-from-behind match at No. 2 singles Thursday afternoon at Norlo Park to spark the Trojans to a victory over the Patriots.

"It was a huge bounce-back win for us," Chambersburg coach Josh Barwin said. "We definitely showed some resiliency and toughness today."

Wissinger dropped the first set 6-4, then evened the match with a 6-4 win. In the tiebreaker, she pulled out an 11-9 victory.

"Avery played strong after going down in the first set," Barwin said. "She never gave up in the match and the result shows that."

The other winners for the Trojans (2-1) were Biya Khan at No. 3 singles (6-0, 6-3) and the No. 2 doubles team of Aspen Kimberly and Sydni Byers, which won 6-0, 6-3.

Barwin said, "Biya took care of her court and was never trailing. She played every point like a match point. It was a strong showing from Aspen and Sydni, who had excellent play at the net."

The two defeats were close ones — Sarah Vessah fell 4-6, 6-4, 10-5 at No. 1 singles, and Stormy Jackson and Ridglee Flohr were edged 6-3, 7-5 at No. 1 doubles.

"Stormy and Ridglee are building chemistry every match and will get the result we're looking for soon," Barwin said. "Sarah played a tough three-setter that just didn't go our way."
