Chambersburg 38, Cedar Cliff 35; State College 39, Chambersburg 25: The Trojans wrestled their final two Mid Penn Commonwealth matches on Saturday and split, winning in dramatic fashion over the Colts, and then falling to the Little Lions.

Chambersburg (5-6, 1-4 MPC) trailed Cedar Cliff 35-24 with three bouts left thanks to a forfeit and pin by the Colts. But in those last three matches, the Trojans got a 9-3 decision from Rylan Carter (120), a 16-1 technical fall from Karl Shindledecker (126) and a clutch pin in 3:12 by Luke Mentzer (132) — wrestling up two weight classes — to pull out the victory. Mentzer had been out of the lineup recently with an illness.

Earlier in the meet, Cedar Cliff (12-8, 0-5 MPC) had taken  a 23-6 lead, with Chambersburg's only points coming on a pin in just 20 seconds by Ryder Davenport.

But the Trojans rallied for a 24-23 lead on the strength of consecutive pins by Aiden Hight at 189, Zach Evans at 215 and Avery Kuhns at 285.

With Carter and Mentzer sitting out the second meet, Chambersburg still gave State College (7-4, 2-3 MPC) a strong battle, especially after falling behind 18-0 after the first three bouts.

Scoring wins for the Trojans were Andrew Hull with a 9-3 decision at 152, Davenport with a pin at 160, Hight with a decision at 189, Kuhns with a 7-2 decision at 285, Zach Sherman with a forfeit at 113 and Shindledecker with a 9-0 major decision at 126.

Evans took on the Little Lions' Nick Pavlechko, who is ranked No. 1 in the state, and was defeated, 7-3.
