Trojan Hoops fall to CD in OT

Central Dauphin 52, Chambersburg 44: The Rams outscored the Trojans 11-3 in overtime to earn a Mid Penn Commonwealth victory Friday night at CASHS Field House.

The loss knocked Chambersburg out of a possible co-division championship — the Trojans are now 16-3 (11-2 MPC) and CV finished 13-1 in the league.

With 2:06 left in regulation, the Trojans' Eli Shearer tied the game 41-41 by hitting a pair of free throws. Neither team could score again before the final buzzer, with Chambersburg turning the ball over twice and CD once. A shot by Jai'tavius Kelly would not go down before the final buzzer.

In OT, Kelley's basket tied the score 43-43, but that was the final bucket for the Trojans.

The Trojans turned the ball over on three of the next four possessions, and the Rams (13-4, 10-2 MPC) took advantage with a basket, two free throws each by Donovan Hill and Keon Dougherty, then Dougherty, Andrew Rinaldi and Christian Wilburn each hit 1 of 2 foul shots for CD to clinch it.

Central Dauphin led the whole game after Chambersburg held a 3-1 lead, until Shearer's two free throws with 2:06 left.
