BOYS BASKETBALL
Central Dauphin 47, Chambersburg 42: The Trojans ended the regular season on a three-game losing streak after a defeat to the Rams on Friday night in a Mid Penn Commonwealth makeup contest.

Chambersburg finished 16-5 (11-3 MPC) and will now await the final District 3 power rankings and pairings. Central Dauphin is 15-4.

The Trojans led by 9 points at halftime, after outscoring Central Dauphin 15-6 in the second quarter, but the Rams used an 18-6 advantage in the third to take the lead.

"We played an outstanding first half," Chambersburg coach Shawn Shreffler said. "We shared the ball, played solid defense and received contributions from multiple players. The ball had energy and we utilized it to our collective benefit."

CD led 43-40 when Jai'tavius Kelly took a pass and scored on a layup with 0:35 to go in the game. At 0:18, the Rams' Jaydon Laudermilch sank two free throws to make it 45-42. Chambersburg called a timeout at 0:11 to set up a play, but Jacob Bassham had to throw up a long contested shot that missed with three seconds left, and CD closed it out with two foul shots from Donovan Hill.

Central Dauphin held the Trojans' 1-2 punch — Bassham (0) and Eli Shearer (2) — to their lowest point totals of the season. The Rams had an advantage at the free throw line, making 13 of 17, while Chambersburg was 5-for-5.

Shreffler said, "CD raised their level of play in the second half and we didn't match it. Each of our last three losses have taught us multiple lessons, that if learned from, will give us a chance to become even tougher and a more resilient as a team heading into the playoffs. We're excited for that opportunity."

Kelly scored 21 points — his second-highest of the season — to lead Chambersburg, while Andon Martin had 10. Only five Trojans got into the scoring column. Andrew Renaldi led CD with 17 points and Hill had 12.

"Our guys had a really good regular season and pushed hard for the league title," Shreffler said.
