State College 4, Chambersburg 1: The Trojans earned a win at No. 1 singles, but the Little Lions proved to be too strong in the other matches and won a season-opening Mid Penn Commonwealth match on Friday afternoon at Norlo Park.

At No. 1, Chambersburg's Sarah Vessah prevailed over Joanna Liu, winning 6-3, 6-3.

The Trojans' Costadina Kalathas and Reese Miller were defeated in straight sets in singles.

In doubles, No. 1 Ashlee Barrett and Shelby Newman were defeated in two sets, as was the team at No. 2 doubles, Zoe Dereef and Leah Wadel.
