
GIRLS SWIMMING
Chambersburg 134, Central Dauphin East 4: The Trojans got off to a totally dominating start, beating the Panthers easily in a Mid Penn Commonwealth meet to open the season Monday afternoon at the Chambersburg YMCA.
"With 22 girls on the team, tonight was a crucial opportunity to get our novices swimming competitively," Chambersburg coach Hali Cormany said. "Two of the girls swam the 400 (freestyle) for the first time and did a great job. "Kayla Wolfe, Monica Kemerer, Ava Grove and Lauren Markle all had some fantastic swims, just to name a few."
A different Trojans won each of the individual events: Lily Evans (200 free, 2:27.42), Markle (200 IM, 2:55.68), McKenzie Wicks (50 free, 31.18), Abby Caltrider (100 fly, 1:16.98), Brynn Greenwood (100 free, 1:17.86), Caitlyn Rankin (400 free, 7:25.22), Wolfe (100 back, 1:16.32) and Ella Boal (100 breaststroke, 1:46.40).
In the relays, Wicks, Markle, Caltrider and Evans won the 200 medley (2:19.02), Lisa Bosconti, Addison Zimmerman, Zoe Dereef and Greenwood took the 200 free (2:24.45) and Wicks, Grove, Sarah Vessah and Wolfe won the 400 free (4:47.45).
BOYS SWIMMING
Chambersburg 106, Central Dauphin East 24: The Trojans opened their season at Chambersburg YMCA on Monday afternoon and cruised past the Panthers in a Mid Penn Commonwealth meet.
A trio of Chambersburg swimmers captured two individual events each: Xavier Covington in the 100 fly (1:06.01) and 100 back (1:09.73), Colby Evans in the 50 free (28.12) and the 100 free (1:03.30), and Ethan White in the 200 IM (2:27.08) and 400 free (4:37.29).
"The boys had a great first meet, with lots of great racing," Trojan coach Chad White said. "It was fun to see that a lot of the boys are just picking up where they left off at the end of last year."
Also earning individual wins for Chambersburg were Thomas McCullough in the 200 freestyle (2:21.41) and Andrew Lenherr in the 100 breaststroke (1:35.55).
The winning 200 medley relay team included Evans, White, Covington and Keagan Myers (2:03.14), the 200 free team was made up of Lenherr, Levi Uglow, Myers and McCullough (2:03.65) and the 400 free relay consisted of White, Evans, Covington and Parker Miller, who won in a time of 4:42.47.
