
Chambersburg 50, Waynesboro 18: The Trojans collected 5 pins and a technical fall on the way to a non-league victory over the Indians in Waynesboro on Wednesday night.
The best match of the night came at 189 pounds, with Waynesboro's Caden Shockey scoring a takedown and 3-point nearfall in the second period to roll up an 8-2 lead over Jaccob Stoner. But in the third, Stoner reversed Shockey to his back and stuck him in 4:54.
Chambersburg coach Matt Mentzer said, "Jaccob hung in there with a very tough kid in Shockey. He got a nice reversal to nearfall points and was able to finish."
Other pins for the Trojans (4-4) came from Aiden Hight (215), Frank Barrientos (285), Zach Sherman (121) and Ashton Romberger (133), while Tyler Frye (145) scored a tech fall. Logan Mickey won by decision at 152.
For Waynesboro (1-5), Jayden Rooney (139) and Clayton Costello (160) had pins and Titus Mong (172) and Steven Howard (127) won by decision.
Mentzer said, "A great effort by Noah Valentine at 172 and Gabe Nolan at 127 to hold tough kids (Mong and Howard) to decisions. We had good effort throughout the lineup tonight."
