Trojans drop season opener

FIELD HOCKEY
Cumberland Valley 10, Chambersburg 1: The Eagles bolted to a 6-0 lead by halftime and claimed the win over the Trojans in a Mid Penn Commonwealth game Tuesday afternoon at Trojan Stadium.

In its season opener, Chambersburg tried to withstand heavy pressure from CV.

"The first half, they kept us on our weak side," Trojan coach Kelsey Baker said. "We adjusted and started swinging the ball to the stronger right side, and Jaxin Frazer and Bella Leeking were able to have some breakaways."

In the third quarter, Frazer had one of those breakaways, drew the defense to her and made a nice pass to Kendall Flory, who sent the ball into the cage.

Baker said, "We were more aggressive with our attack in the last two quarters. Addy Hollenshead had 24 saves in goal, and Maddie Predko, Julia Elhajj and Amora Lopez also had some beautiful defensive saves on the line. The girls knew this game was against a highly-skilled team and they never hung their heads once, and continued to attack for all 60 minutes."
